How to Throw a Party

Planning to throw a party at Conucopia? Coming from out of town? Don't have the slightest idea of where to find things? We may be able to help you. Write to Anastasia Hunter, our Party Demigoddess, at party@99.nasfic.org and tell her what kind of things you'll be looking for.

If you're holding your party in your room, make sure you specify "Party Floor" when you make your reservation. If you want to reserve a suite, write to Ben Yalow at suites@99.nasfic.org right away. Suites are limited.

A note about Party Signs

We have five or six locations for you to post your signs, as there will be a "Blue Board" for this purpose next to each Daily Newszine distribution board. Anyone running an event occurring during the convention may place a notice on the Blue Boards.

Agamemcon IV [www]
- "AgamemCon IV will be hosting parties on Friday and Saturday nights. Time and room TBA."
Austin Powers
- "We are having an AUSTIN POWERS PARTY, Thurs at 9:30 PM. Room TBA. It will be very Shagadelic."
Bay Area in 2002 [www]
- "We're definitely holding parties, on Thursday-Friday-Saturday nights."
Loscon XXVI [www]
- "saturday night - nuclear winter wonderland."
Costumers Party
- "There will be a Costumers Room party on Fri, Sat and Sun. Room TBA late Friday afternoon.
Mensa Dinners
- "This year we will start out by having a dinner the night before the convention begins i.e. Wednesday August 25. The time will be 8:00 PM and the location the Cafe Del Sol in the Marriott. If you get in late and want to join us for dessert or a drink that would be fine."
SFF.net [www]
- "SFF.net will be hosting a party on Friday evening beginning at 9:00 pm in the SFF.net Suite on the 4th floor."
Sime~Gen [www]
- "We are having a Sime~Gen party, Friday night, starting about 9pm for fans of Jacqueline Lichtenberg's Sime~Gen universe. Room TBA."
Toronto in 2003 (Worldcon Bid) [www]
- "The Toronto in 2003 Worldcon bid will be throwing two parties at Conucopia... Our bid chef Merle von Thorn, who conjured Jamaican jerk chicken for a thousand people last year in Baltimore, is working on new delights for 1999. We always have lots of fun at parties, so don't miss it. Better yet, if you can spare an hour or two, give us a hand! Volunteering is always a rewarding experience, and the more who join in, the easier it is for everybody. Take this opportunity to get to know more about Toronto and about Toronto fandom; find out how much Toronto and LA have in common. We look forward to meeting as many west coast fans as we can, so come see us. And bring your friends!"
